Airwallex doubles down on Israeli presence with new hires and expansion
Pranav Sood, GM, EMEA at Airwallex, spoke to CTech about its plans to expand into the region to foster relationships and customers
“While we are expanding into Israel and the Middle East, we already have had customers in Israel for some time,” explained Pranav Sood, GM, EMEA at Airwallex. “We’re serving businesses like Papaya Global, OurCrowd, and many others, and helping them with their global money movement needs.”
Airwallex is a payment banking platform for global businesses helping customers to collect, hold, convert, and spend money around the world. It does that both for businesses’ own needs but also so they can build embedded finance products for their customers, too. The company, which was founded roughly seven years ago in Melbourne but has since expanded its presence in Israel and the EMEA region as a whole, employs 140 people in the area.
“For me it was a natural extension, having already had these customers and those relationships, to invest more in building out our presence here in the region,” Sood continued. Airwallex recently welcomed Or Liban as its Head of Israel and the Middle East and “we are building a team out to help us to scale our efforts in Israel and the region more broadly.”
