Google: “We want to make sure we help Startup Nation dream, build, and grow.”
Gali Shachar Efrat, General Manager at Google & Reichman Tech School and Hanit Marinov, Country Marketing Manager at Google Israel, joined CTech to discuss diversity efforts in Startup Nation.
“I think that first when we started this initiative probably a year ago, we realized that the tech industry is no longer an industry, it is everywhere,” said Gali Shachar Efrat, General Manager at Google & Reichman Tech School. “It is in every industry, every aspect of our lives and therefore it should be more inclusive and should include more groups within our population in Israel.”
The initiative between Google and Reichman University is designed to create a tech school that will first reach out to underrepresented groups from high tech, and then helps them overcome the barriers to cultivate more professionals in the tech industry. The aim is to reach 3,000 participants in the next five years through technological programs.
“Google took a mission to invest and to grow Startup Nation,” added Hanit Marinov, Country Marketing Manager at Google Israel. “Startup Nation tech companies are our clients, and we want to make sure we help them dream, build, and grow. We have seen in the past year or so that the main challenge of those companies to grow has to do with talent, the pool of talent they have access to. And to grow this pool of talent, we believe we need to reach out to all of society.”
