Can someone explains me why Israel is in Eurovision. Maybe I missed a part of my geography.

Netta is probably a very nice person, but she is anything but a talented singer. I found her song, her performance and 'noise' annoying and I'm shocked that with all the real talent in Israel, that this is what was presented. The entire charade just proves what a sham and sub-standard event the Eurovision song festival has become. I personally am ashamed of this song and bewildered that this is what Israel chose to represent our country. What a sad joke ... and how much it says about those who voted for "Toy".
