Playtech was founded in 1999 by Israeli-born businessman Teddy Sagi, owner of mobile ad tech company Glispa Global Group and London's Camden Market. Playtech is the world's largest provider of online gambling services and employs more than 5,000 people in 17 countries. The company reported revenues of €421.6 million (around $497.5 million) for the first half of 2017. In February, Playtech announced the appointment of former U.K. Gambling Commission (UKGC) executive Richard Bayliss as its regulatory compliance manager. In his new role, he will head the strategy development of Playtech’s “responsible gambling initiatives.” The contract with Totalizator Sportowy is in line with Playtech’s plan to partner with leading land-based brands and institutions in newly regulated online markets, the company said in a statement.Related stories
In 2017, Poland instituted a new online gambling regime, in line with other European countries, making online gambling games like Casino, Poker and Bingo legal—as long as they are offered by Totalizator Sportowy. The state-owned company does not have such platforms of its own, and therefore set up a tender.
Playtech did not give a timeframe for the launch of its services in Poland.
