This AR Helmet Will Tell You How Fast Your Heart Is Racing Down the Ski Slope

Ever skied and wanted to know how fast you were going? Or wanted to take a picture of the scenery but had those clunky ski poles stuck between your mittens?

Tel Aviv-based RideOn Ltd. has developed an augmented reality helmet to make sure your ski experience is chill and doesn’t end in a flurry.

The helmet called Mohawk includes a GPS, and a speedometer, 4K video, and a ten-megapixel camera. It also lets users the ability to check their heartbeat, outside temperature, listen to music and make live video calls with friends on the slopes.

All the necessary information is projected onto the helmet’s visor.

The company’s helmet also includes an ‘SOS’ button that sends your location to the ski site’s control center, the company’s CEO Alon Getz said in a Tuesday interview with Calcalist. The ski site’s control center can message all helmet wearers on the site alerting them of necessary information.

Trial runs for the helmet are underway at the Schladming-Dachstein ski resort in the Austrian state of Styria and at St. Anton in the Austrian Alps. The helmets cost between 20 - 35 euros to rent, per day.

The helmets can currently be rented for 20 - 35 euros a day. RideOn expects to start selling the helmets next season.
