Google Cloud to Acquire Data Management Company Alooma

Tel Aviv-based Alooma offers a platform that lets companies stream and migrate their organizational data from multiple locations and sources into one single location

Google Cloud has signed an agreement to acquire Tel Aviv-based data management and migration company Alooma Inc., the companies announced Tuesday. The companies did not provide financial details regarding the deal, which is still subject to customary closing conditions.

Founded in 2013, Alooma offers a platform that lets companies stream and migrate their organizational data from multiple locations and sources into one single location. The company has corporate headquarters in Redwood City, California, but most of its team, which numbers around 70 people according to LinkedIn, is located in Israel. Alooma previously raised around $15 million from investors including Sequoia Capital Israel and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The deal is "the evolution” of a “long-standing partnership” between Google Cloud and the Israeli startup, Alooma co-founders Yair Weinberger and Yoni Broyde wrote in a blog post Tuesday.

The acquisition will enable Google to build its cloud migration capabilities, and grow Google Cloud's footprint in Israel, Google Cloud said in a statement.
