Exodigo signs $3M contract with LA Metro to map hidden foundations
Israeli company brings underground safety innovation to U.S. infrastructure projects.
Exodigo, which specializes in underground mapping technologies, has signed an agreement worth approximately $3 million with LA Metro, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority responsible for public transport and metro construction.
Under the agreement, Exodigo will provide foundation detection services for buildings and bridges located near tunnels being dug along metro routes, as well as infrastructure location and related services.
This deal follows another recent contract with Amtrak, the U.S. national railway company, which tasked Exodigo with locating foundations beneath existing buildings.
The exploration and detection of underground building foundations is a new commercial product developed by Exodigo. The company first deployed the technology in a successful pilot with Israel’s NTA on the M2 metro line, where it was asked to identify the foundations of several buildings adjacent to the route.

Many older buildings in Israel and around the world lack reliable foundation records, creating significant planning uncertainty. Some of the world’s largest infrastructure projects face challenges due to missing or inaccurate data about underground structures, sometimes leading to serious incidents.
One dramatic example was the collapse of the Cologne City Archives in Germany in 2009, during metro construction work. The disaster, caused by inadequate underground information, claimed lives and resulted in enormous financial and reputational damage.
